Book 1: Ambassadors

By Makhiwethu Clive Ngwenya

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) matters more than your basic levels of human intelligence (IQ). Understanding how to manage you daily emotions is key to long-lasting success.

Ambassadors – A Tribute to Mentorship and Legacy

“Ambassadors” is more than a book — it’s a movement.
This powerful work honors the men and women who have gone before us, those who dared to dream, led with purpose, and left behind a legacy of wisdom. Through poetic reflection, personal stories, and practical guidance, this book reminds us that looking up to great leaders is not only wise — it’s essential for growth.

In every chapter, Ambassadors invites you to reflect on your potential, to learn from the giants who’ve walked the path before you, and to consider: Who will you succeed?

Whether you’re seeking motivation, mentorship, or a deeper sense of purpose, this book is a tool to guide your journey — and this page is your gateway to its message.

I am giving you a window – you have to see what is through it.

Happy a man is who dies knowing that the family he left behind will not suffer, for everyday he lived, he secured his family and left them with only one burden – His death.  Makhiwethu Clive Ngwenya

Introduction

Before I became a writer my life had meaning though the journey I took to get this far changed my life; a timid man to many I have looked but who can doubt a mind that wants to win. This book is like any other: it has a Title, Beginning, and an End but it is not just a book once you have read it.

This book delivers life changing teachings which will help you grow. This book, and why it was written, is a dedication to the men and women who lived their lives to the fullest, who broke barriers, and who went on to achieve great success in their respective fields. They are our Ambassadors – people we can learn from who can help us move forward with our own goals and dreams.

You cannot move forward without learning about your past because great innovations are adaptations of what we already have as tools. Our Ambassadors when utilised leave us important wisdom which helps us achieve our successes in life.

Chapter 5: Mentorship

Chapter 1: My thoughts

  • Greatness is felt

It is known that victory can be envisioned before the end result has ever been achieved. This is my first book but I already see a generous collection I will write. How did I start writing? It’s not a mistake I am told everyday by men and women of influence I was privileged to learn from.

The first thing I did was to ask a lot of questions. I soon realised that your mind is much more precious than gold. Your mind is your most precious tool and all other resources are just bonuses. For example, the most important man on the battlefield is the Commanding Chief Officer. In most cases he or she may not be in the front lines of the battlefield, but they’re hidden away with war charts. He/she may not have seen – visited the site – only aided by resources to get the job done.

For a commander, the battle is won long before they get their opportunity to stand on the new land; long before a medal is ever awarded to them. The greatest weapon used to win the battle is their mind. A victory achieved not because of luck but because of experience and continuous learning, adapting to their environment, and using their knowledge and experience of having fought in many wars long forgotten by the civilian population.

Having knowledge of how wars are won (or lost) brought him hierarchy and respect. Once you realise that all medals in life are only given to victorious people you will soon maximise your own potential.

HOW CAN ONE DEFINE A FEELING?

Your mind may tell you otherwise (give you known definitions and answers) but if you skip the already known and obvious ones, you’ll realise an answer for this question locked away inside of you, and only understood by winners. To achieve a goal you first have to develop a vision for it (feeling) in your mind that cannot be explained effectively through words.

In reality when a person asks you about a project you wish to pursue, when it is still a thought for you as well, in normal circumstances you might respond by saying, ‘I don’t really know how but I know and feel that I will reach my goal.’ And honestly this is the best answer you can give at that moment in time because sometimes your vision still needs to develop more in your heart for you to fully understand it as well.

The feeling (vision) must grow inside you until it is so descriptive that you are able to see it when you close your eyes. But what type of feelings can possess a man’s mind so much that he/she breaks away from normal thinking, normal rat race living, to understand a feeling so intense as giving birth which pushes you to believe that what you desire you can achieve.

In order to understand what I mean by greatness is felt, this book is poetic. I did not strategies on which Ambassador I would write about but by faith and understanding the men and women you shall read about felt their victories before they ever achieved their success.

The poems I wrote honouring their lives give me great pleasure for this is my way of thanking them for their greatness and power. Happy a man is who dies knowing that the family he left behind will not suffer, for everyday he lived, he secured his family and left them with only one burden – His death.

    Who comes after they leave?

The great Ambassadors we all know and love. The men and women who made names for themselves, who destined for victory from early stages in their careers until they achieved their goals. Who will take over after they leave? In life, to pursue a goal you first need to understand what it is that you wish to achieve.

You cannot sit for a final examination and expect to pass if what you were taught you did not grasp. Therefore, the leaders in your field are the tools you need to use in order to achieve success. And if you fail to understand this truth, someone else in your time and generation will become what you were destined to become simply because you did not listen.

  • Lionel Messi first kicked a soccer ball as a child, and only later through belief (feeling that he can be the greatest football player of his generation) became the greatest player of his generation, in my opinion.

An end result cannot come before a beginning. How will you win before you learn how to win? In reality, it does not take a day for you to become an honourable person; the person who wins the lottery in most cases barely enjoys that money for long.

To become a winner you first have to grow, spend time learning, and evaluating the road that has to be taken (war charts) to succeed. Believe in yourself and have the vision (feeling) of wanting to win. No man that takes away time from his day to succeed not reap the rewards in the end.

From the greatest sportsperson of our time to the greatest writer of our generation they all knew that one day their leaders would eventually have to pass on their relay stick to someone else, and why not that someone be you?

I will be the greatest influential writer of my time and generation… How? By leading, teaching, and growing people all over the world so that they too can succeed in the fields. My contribution will see me achieve my dream by making sure that you achieve your dream too.

For my life and success I have already envisioned in my mind; books cannot be counted in my mind as to how many I will write for they are too many, in my dreams, and only time will be my greatest adversary on how many I will manage to write. When you pinpoint your goals you clearly know your targets and outcomes of why it is vital to keep up with your schedule.

I am very happy that my leaders in the literature world need not worry… for I come as a successor; I choose to take on the responsibility of guiding many minds to victory. I have a question for you, who will you succeed?

Knowledge

The word knowledge is by far the greatest word I have ever come across. Once you understand what it means you will understand the power behind attaining knowledge in the field you wish to succeed in. He who has knowledge is king; for if I have knowledge on how the simplest tool is used, and you do not I am king over you.

Find out what you can do with your hands and do it well; this can be taken literally or mentally, acquire knowledge which will place you in your own level even though in the field you are in – you are many. Be bold in your desire to receive knowledge for I give you one true fact that knowledge is far more powerful than the certificates you possess.

I am not diminishing the outstanding performances one achieves at school, but the person who excels in life has knowledge far greater than the A.B.C, formulas you learn in class. My book contains real words, this book will enlighten you on men and women we all know about who had the same opportunities as many people in their time, and who prevailed by simply using those opportunities.

The poems I have written for these Ambassadors is my way of honouring them, killing two birds with one stone, teaching you and blessing those who have blessed us with their achievements and greatness. I give you the Ambassadors of success; people who pursued their goals and made their visions a reality.

Why I am writing this book?

It is said that to be a true leader, teaching has to be part of your life. Not because you are obliged to do so but because you want to. Books are part of my life now; I cannot exist without being part of this literary world.

I am not looking to be like other writers who intentionally write just to make money; and neither do I find it wrong to make money because why would you spend precious time writing not to earn good money out of it which can sustain your family.

This book is not a get rich Ponzi scheme to make you an instant millionaire, no! This book has been written to give you a chance to see how other normal men and women grew into their successful roles we all know about today because they understood the element of succession.

I ask myself at times who am I to pry into your life, telling you about what you should do in order to succeed? To be honest (if we are being honest with each another) I know why I wrote this book, but after reading this far, do you know why you are still reading it?

Does this book motivate you and give you a feeling of having found a good tool which will encourage your future growth? Does it inspire you to make yourself a better person – to become more successful in your life? Am I reaching into your mind, yanking and pulling at those dormant goals – breathing fire into them – dusting off old wishes leaving a clean surface ready for you to use.

It’s been years since I read and edited this book. Its’ been years since I thought of getting it published, why? Because life tried many a time to stop me from achieving my goals; life tried to keep me in the rat race environment which if I had not managed to break away from this book would not have been published.

Today for you would have been a normal day and not a special one because you would not have read this book; but I now raise this thought in your mind, are you cashing the right goal and vision in your life?

Poetry, personally, in my own words is a weapon only a few can really use for good; it allows you to manipulate words with such ease that a sonnet for me is a remarkable tool which if used properly can leave you with an open mind to explore other aspects of life.

Heaven

The name of the Home of Christ;

Built in a season unknown to man,

When was it built? When was it not?

….

You can doubt a lot of things in my life but the way I write tells an inspiring story of its own. Every day I learn something new about this world we live in, and it is by far the greatest time to be achieving your goals today; In your own time.

Look at the men and women who you are about to succeed.

To emulate a person who has succeeded in your field gives you a tested road to know that what you want to achieve (in your time and generation) can be achieved. The Ambassadors you will read about most of them need no introduction; nevertheless their lives are a proven fact that if you can imagine it, you can achieve it.

For He who created us first imagined us. Every Ambassador has their own poem; poems I wrote celebrate their lives. Their individual successes are known to many people around the world but what you have to do is strip them of their successes so you can trace their steps backwards to see how they manage to reach their goals.

To understand how they managed to climb their career ladders, but most importantly, how they endured all the obstacles they faced while trying to become the people we know of today.

Chapter 2: what entails in this book

The people you see

My words should not be the final element which should empower you. The book Ambassadors is only a catalyst, a stepping stone to help you understand how the past can be the key to foreseeing your future. The Ambassadors in this book will reveal the true essence of it. Some of them might have started off in wealthy or poor family backgrounds though they all made one important decision to follow their dreams no matter what. Failure was a possible outcome though their determination and will power lead them to victory.

Their achievements

An animal can give birth to live babies or lay eggs which hatch over time, but the end result will be its young being born. In the parents natural lifecycle its main objective will be to teach its young to do what? To eat, run, protect and defend itself against predators; identify what is good and what is bad. But note that its young are their main priority. For it seems to know that the elements of the world need to be taught to it in order for the young to survive.

Does a gazelle really know not to play with a lion? Will a lion know to leave a gazelle alone to grow and live out a good life? Not always; up until its young can survive on their own the parent will instinctively guide it through all of life’s interesting and very dangerous cycles. Thus, we as humans need to understand that we too, as humans, need parents to guide us through life’s obstacles. When humans are born they are totally useless – unable to take care of themselves – and a true fact is that if parents we did not have, human beings would not exist today.

Just like animals the same needs to be done to teach humans how to succeed. We don’t have success teachers who can nurture us from birth, but we do have people all around us we can learn from. Their achievements are such lessons we can use to understand what actions must be taken in order to succeed.

Past scientists continue to pave way for future breakthroughs in science because we constantly refer back to how they manage to cure unimaginable viruses; which possibly (if one of you picks up the torch) can be achieved by you in your time and generation because of what you have gained from their achievements.

If you are a human being, and you do not know what you want to do in life – don’t worry – but I have only one question I need to ask you, why don’t you have a goal?

……………………………….. Think about it? …………………………………

Some people go through life having a vision of what they want to achieve, though destructively continue to tell themselves that when the time is right, it will be done.

BREAKING NEWS: there will never be a right time to do anything. Soldiers can go through intensive and rigorous training for years before ever experiencing controlling a riot at a gathering let alone fighting an actual war. Never have I seen a general tell his soldiers not to train; because he understands that the time for war will eventually come and with this reality the soldiers must be well prepared for war.

You need to understand that there will never be a right time to train thus we must always train. Time has a funny way of flying by – and if you are aware – only a few of us get to live beyond 100 years. Calculate how many years you still have to get to 100, use reasoning when gathering all of your facts, looking at your current lifestyle to truly see if you will reach this milestone. Will you reach it having achieved everything you ever wanted to achieve?

It only takes one day for you to change and begin to behave differently if you choose to, because a split second in the event that you are involved in an accident will determine whether you live or die. Are you waiting for that split second to happen to see how your life will go? Never leave work undone that can be done today for another unknown time, for you never know how this life will go tomorrow.

I thank my Lord that I know now what I not know a few years ago – that it is never too late to change. It’s never too late to realise success. A person’s achievement (Ambassadors) can help you understand what you can do in order to win.

Their humanity

A humble person need not show it – it is seen in the way a person presents themselves – because their actions reveal it. The other definition of humanity is “classical and polite literature,” Oxford Dictionary. Thus my Ambassadors have echoed theirs ways (amplified through my writing) for all to see.

You were not given life for you not to achieve your desired goals. So it is not your right to think less of yourself. If men and women born in the past thought less of themselves – aeroplanes would not defy gravity – Polio and Smallpox would have eventually killed us all; and I, would have never written this book. FACT!

Not all in life can be taught to you, and at one stage, you, reading this book has to in reality pause for a moment and ask yourself this question, ‘If I woke up tomorrow and I had to fend for myself with whatever knowledge and skills I currently have, in this ever changing and evolving world, would I survive?’

The Ambassadors in this book realised what their potentials were worth to this world, and they fought very hard to climb their career ladders of success up until we got to see their deeds and purposes echo until today. It is time for our generation to start climbing our ladders of success as well.

Their greatness

For you to become a noble person it first has to be seen by other people. You can be the greatest singer in the world but if you only sing in the bathroom – your greatness will never be known. Thus, your purpose in life would have only lived in your heart and not in the world; which is not good.

The reason why you are gifted in your field means you have to show it to the world, all gifts have meaning, and to prove it the Ambassadors in this book all proved their worth by showing off what they were given as a gift to the world.

If Michelangelo had hidden his painting skills, who then would have painted the Sistine Chapel like he did? Alfred Bernhard Nobel, a Swedish inventor established the Nobel Peace Prize in 1895 – Wikipedia, but not all know what he invented for the world, he invented dynamite.

Thinking less of yourself has stolen many great discoveries meant for the world; Shakespeare, Sir Isaac Newton, and Albert Einstein all had great gifts, and deeds they gave to the world. If you continue listening, and absorbing damaging words from bitter men born only to destroy your will and dream – so our world does not benefit from it – you will fail.

The greatest victory can only come by achieving what you believe in. If you want to be a ‘Nobel’ person you have to go out into the world and get it.

Chapter 3: Four factors that make winners

  1. Faith
  • What is faith?
  • How can it be defined?

Faith is believing in your heart that whatsoever you want to accomplish in this world, you will accomplish. It is a gift from God that enables the mind to know that what you read in the Bible can be practiced in reality. And with a powerful and knowing belief called faith, shall you see your goals unfolding in circumstances that are uncommon to man and the person next to you trying to succeed in what you will be succeeding in.

It is stepping out of the world’s all-so-knowing-roads to success, to follow a road less travelled that no man born on this earth can understand apart from God. Who shows you the way by you believing in your dreams, that what you want to succeed in will happen – as well as happening in your time and generation – a simple equation which has brought success to all men and women who use faith in their lives.

It’s all about believing the Word of the Lord which tells us to look for Him first, and only after this, shall all you seek be given to you. My faith is by far a mystery to normal day to day living people, because as I sit down writing this chapter, no man apart from me and my Lord has read my scribbles on paper.

Until now because my faith has enabled me to publish it, and you are testimony to it because you are reading it! Are you not? The power of faith in me gave me a vision of my book being published way before I had ever finished writing it.

I believed in my heart that what I have written will be read by many, and received by those with great minds – for my faith told me that this book will bring a positive change to you, and aid you to realise your dreams. If you have read what has been written from the beginning… it is proof that faith works, and my deeds of writing this book, it being published, and you reading it, are an example of faith at work.

Guidance

There has never been a person who has ever achieved their goals without help. No one can claim this. Don’t only see winners when they have achieved their success/dream

  • You don’t just get to the top… there’s a road you have to go through in order to get to the top.

Before he/she became a winner, a mentor helped them get to the top, even if they don’t know it. A mentor is a life guide who has succeeded or is knowledgeable in your field; and with them as your guide, a plan and course of action can be set up to build you up for victory long before the masses call out your name, and watch you win many a race.

A king can never be a king unless he has people to rule over, thus he is guided by the terms which allow him to remain as king. The king is the greatest person in the land but every wise king has greater people all around them who guide them as well.

Presidents call them advisors, business people call them consultants, and we who want to achieve success, we call them mentors.

Mentorship is one of the most powerful tools you can ever obtain and use to your advantage. Having a mentor allows you to learn traits that took your mentor years to master and learn; they will share this wisdom with you which helps you achieve success in a shorter time – which is more productive for you.

Watch any karate movie and you will understand what I mean; the student will go through a journey of intensive training with so much wisdom gained in a short space of time, and if gained correctly, the learner goes on to achieve great success. The master takes the student on an intensive training campaign of which after some time (depending on their determination) the student masters all karate moves and goes on to win at some event by the end of the movie.

Battles that they could have never won if guidance they never sought. Bruce lee is one of the greatest karate fighters who have ever graced our world and time; but if you rewind, and go back in time you will realise that there was an even greater man who mentored Bruce lee long before he got his success and fame.

Wisdom

Stay with me… wisdom is an understanding which enables you to differentiate good and bad. Your mind differentiates good from bad, thus for you to have wisdom, you need to understand the difference between right and responsible.

Sir Winston Churchill once said, “the price of greatness is responsibility;” in this world it is right to drink, smoke, have unprotected sex, and break the ten commandments; but if, and only if, you want to achieve your goals – then you need to ask yourself one question: Is it being responsible to do everything above?

Responsibility is denouncing your rightful ways that are okay to do in the world by choosing the responsible root which success demands from you. There are no extras you can take along if success you truly wish to achieve; to run away from your earthly rights enables you to realise and open doors where pure joy is realised.

The requirements may sound harsh, but they are all fair. In order for you to win – the life you were living has to change. A good person is honest and true, and wisdom helps you understand the road you have to take. What you have to leave behind, you leave behind.

The Holy Spirit

It is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End you must acquire above all for you to be free. God is the creator of all that you see, and more; but evil manipulated the world – so do not justify all the wrongs you see as God given.

My Lord is your Lord if you accept Him, He is God of all and more you still do not know about. I had always thought that I would not be able to write on the Holy Spirit when this section came about, but after I realised what the Holy Spirit meant… I had no problems.

Some preachers might shun this part of my book as not accurate; people who hate my religion might throw away this book and deem it too Christian to be motivational book. I may be Christian, and it might lack powerful Christian sayings, and words to get the point through about God… though I write to inform, I write to encourage, and I write to open people’s minds in order for them to succeed.

I am proud to teach as I teach, and I am a proud to write and explain how I explain; and if you don’t get it (Christians and none Christians) write your own book and publish it. God is the destroyer of doubt, fear, evil, and unbelief in your life. He is more than an action hero for even the action hero doubts himself sometimes.

There is no doubt in my Lord, He is so great that He created you; you to Him are a unique self portrait of Him, all you see in yourself is what He is in heaven. He loves you, for you are His child and your destiny is paved by Him.

‘If you are drunk right now, He is drunk with you; and if you are an addict, He is an addict – addicted with you. Prostitute, killer, sex slave, scared, ashamed… you name it, He is what you are right now – and He is ready to change with you.

He is ready to become great with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, judge you nor deny you. He will be with you forever, He will succeed with you. He is unlike people who leave you when you are down, unlike friends who chase you away because of where you are in life.

He is with you now and ready to be great with you tomorrow. God is great… He helps me become the best person I can be.’

He comes to us in this world as the Holy Spirit to be with us; meaning he will never at one moment break away. When the Holy Spirit is with you, nothing more shall you want because He takes over your life, puts you on auto pilot, and drives you to success.

God is that good guys… that success becomes inevitable, and not just a wish, success becomes real and attainable in your life because of Him. He is the chance of a better life. Seek a good Christian church to vet my message about The Holy Spirit.

There are preachers out there who can be a testimony to what I have written about God today. Oh! And have my book with you to show them this chapter as reference.

Chapter 4: Dreams

The power of a dream can change your life forever. It’s just how you perceive it. And if you do not have a dream, for now, it’s okay.

Where do dreams come from?

Dreaming is seeing yourself in a different situation, and there is nothing difficult about doing this because you do it all the time. Every time you watch a movie – you dream about becoming the hero who saves the day; or when watching your favourite sporting event you see yourself as the winning captain, lifting up the trophy, and people praising you for leading your team to victory, that’s all dreaming.

Dreaming is normal, though you have to find the right dream to pursue because not all dreams are meant to be pursued. A lot of people today have a lot of dreams they could pursue. But they only keep them as a lot of dreams they have in their mind.

They dream of becoming many things, you name it, but they never try and pursue their dreams in the end. Sometimes they only reassure themselves by saying, ‘if God wants it to be, it shall be.’

  • This is someone who has found God but is not using God in the right way.

God never said He will do everything for you, no! He said He will be there to help you succeed. “Faith without deeds is dead,” James 2: verse 14-26 in the Bible, mentions this because God knows that He cannot do everything for you, but He created you to be an image of Him – meaning: thinking, dreaming, and achieving goals as He did when He created you.

You have the power to choose which way your life goes and with this power you can choose to follow your dreams or ignore them. No man on this earth can stop you from achieving your dreams if faith and The Holy Spirit you have. No man on this earth can. Dreams are gifts from God which give you thoughts about all the possibilities you can achieve on this earth. A lot of jobs were made for us to do, so it’s all up to you to pick one and make it work.

How to gather your mind

The phrase “knowledge is power,” by Sir Francis Bacon did not just grow in popularity if truth were not realised through its meaning. Gathering your mind means teaching the mind to understand a new element each day. Your brain functions for one reason, to learn more about life that will enable your body to grow, function, and most importantly survive.

Induce thoughts into mind to want to achieve an outcome which will help you think about success each day. If a thought (dream or desire) manages to stay in your mind for a while; look into it, and once your mind is set on achieving it – you will. “The only limitation a person has is himself,” Wayne Dyer.

Does this not make any sense to you? You are your only true enemy in this world, for everything that the world can try and offer to you, which could harm you, you can overcome. The former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years at Robben Island, in South Africa. Which we can term to be ‘worldly elements which targeted his progression and success.’

But his legacy is known today because he came out of prison, after serving 27 years in jail not only to become a free man, but he went on to become the first black president of South Africa.

If in his mind after being sentenced to 27 years in jail and during his incarceration gave up believing in his dreams and had simply sat on his bed, waiting to die, because 27 years in jail is too long to keep a dream meant for the South African people alive… I will only ask you one question: where would South Africa be at this moment in time if Nelson Mandela did not become president?

He was imprisoned, they managed to imprison his body but failed to realise one thing, that a mind can still roam free faraway from metal bars, walls, and guards. The years in jail never broke him but built him into a man of greatness because he managed to gather his mind and break free long before he was ever released from jail.

# Ten ways to create a vision

Read books of inspiration

No person can chase a dream without first being inspired. Read books written by men and women of dignity who write not to manipulate thoughts, but who write to build your mind so as to give you an insight on how to achieve true and everlasting success. A very important key is that you have to succeed through your own vision and desire.

A poem I once wrote can depict what I say with a simple phrase though powerful:

SIN

What one thinks can create or destroy;

What one utters can increase or decrease.

How many shall fall into the pit of doom?

Thus how will you predict your own future?

Unlike birds, man proved flight, and with it

Showed willingness to determine he’s own future.

“Unlike birds, man proved flight,” the Wright Brothers did not achieve flight by themselves, but were inspired by birds. Inspiration helps you get direction and what has been written in books can help you relate with your own opportunities and goals. You should always learn new ways to help you achieve success because it is part of the road which will enable you to build a true vision for your life.

Learn from other people’s mistakes rather than your own mistakes at times, because if you try and learn from your own mistakes by the time you have understood your errors – life itself will be far away and your age eroded with it.

Teach your mind to love gathering information – for even the rich know this secret and have a saying for it, “Knowledge is power.” The lazy mind will not eat for long, but the thinking mind will grow a vegetable garden and not only survive but also sell some of the produce to the lazy man who has no vision of finding ways to feed himself.

Not everyone plants crops, and not everyone sells seeds to the man who plant crops. Life is like a circle – find your slot inside it and produce your own success.

Understand what a goal is

A goal is an outcome you want to achieve. It’s setting the mind on a course to success, knowing that obstacles will come but one should expect them, plan around them, and keep on keeping on. I call a goal ‘my greater goal,’ because when I have understood what goal I want to pursue, whatever happens between the starting point and my greater goal is what I call parts of the process.

As long as I know that between the starting point and success I will definitely run through problems, my greater goal will continue because I will keep on pursing it until I succeed. No matter how long it takes.

My greater goal: on my road to success I should know and prepare myself that I will come across

My greater goal poster

All obstacles will come, and all obstacles I will overcome as long as I know my greater goal of what I want to achieve. Having goals will help you stay on your desired route, all the way up, until you succeed in the end. No matter the obstacle or barriers.

Change the way how you perceive life

Life to some can be intimidating; especially when you see men and women who have achieved their success such as your neighbours, friends, and colleagues. It can make you feel doubtful about whether you will ever achieve your own goals when things aren’t going as planned.

In such cases if you too feel this way at times – instead of being blown off course, change the way how you perceive life and be motivated by the winners around you. Once you do that they will give you hope and a real picture that if the people around can do it, so can you.

A friend of mine once told me a true story of what a real winner is. He said that I was already a winner. He said, “don’t see yourself as a loser because in reality the truth is that when your parents conceived you, over one million sperms went into your mother’s womb, and out of the million you were that one sperm which fertilised the egg; and not the 999 999 which failed.”

He said, “Think about it… you fought to be the first to fertilise your mothers egg which created you; it means if you never swam the fastest you would not have been created which makes you a winner.”

If this does not make you realise your worth, then I don’t know. I am a winner, this changed how I saw life (my life) and it gave me the confidence to pick up a pen and write myself into history. I believe that you are a winner. It’s time you believed in yourself as well. Believe it – because no man can change your thoughts but yourself.

Seek guidance

One of the best teachers in life is a teacher. A teacher is a person who will guide you in the proper ways needed to become successful. It takes time for a person to become independent, between that time and transition a teacher is needed to build you up.

Note that for them to teach you, they have to have succeeded in the same or similar field you are in. Apart from that, the person you shall seek guidance from must be a respectable person in order for you to receive proper guidance, tactics, and training.

See yourself as a victor

Conquerors are conquerors before they conquer. They win before they have won. They plan their road to success and watch it develop into victory. Conquerors feel in their hearts that victorious they will be, and the uncommon road to success is worth taking for it. The first poem I ever wrote has been my flag to success. This poem is still profound, and very potent in my life – giving me hope, desire, and a passion to succeed in my dreams.

Where to go?

Approaching a narrow path stretching far as the eye can see,

A distance not known, for if it were known, life would have no goal.

With no anxiety of what tomorrow holds, life is a choice

Driven by desire and hope, for a man knows no goal that has been

Met without a fight; you have the power to decide,

Die on the road, or not try and succeed at all.

Presidents were mere people before they were sworn in; generals were soldiers, billionaires were planners before they all asked that one question: “Where to go?” You got to keep on keeping on. Moving forward, bettering your life always if you are to succeed. Once you achieved your goals, ask yourself where you are going next.

Learn how to set targets

A target can be in the form of an activity that you want to finish in a specified (it has to be specific) space of time. This target must not be an exaggerated target, but has to be realistic, time sensitive so it can be achieved.

You could for example, set a target that before the day ends you would have researched on what: Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is all about; or how many people have succeeded in your field – the top ten.

This is a realistic target you can achieve. Knowing what you want to do in a targeted frame of time has made men and women very successful who have gone on to make millions.

Knowing what to do and when to do it is the key to managing your time and activities

Identify what achievements you want in life

I need not explain this part to you for you know the dreams you want to pursue and achieve. On a piece of paper, write down all the achievements (goals) you want to achieve; write all them down no matter how wild (even to me) they may seem.

Alexander Graham Bell identified a dream, before it was even a reality in the world, he dreamt of sound moving through wire and – in the end – it did.  In a time when people thought him to be insane, he pursued his dream and achieved what we today know as a basic and simple tool of life.

People have different thoughts, and that is why there are a lot of jobs that we can do. We are not a straight forward species for our mind is a complex organ that has a capacity to think beyond what one person can deem to be impossible. Man went to space, man landed on the moon, man creates new inventions, and with everything you see today – man will surpass it time and time again. Our minds will never stop thinking of how to make tomorrow better:

Tomorrow gives my mind a thought

I woke up in a world with a lot of desire,

A world that focuses on making it through another day.

The mind purposefully giving us thoughts to make it through this day;

For mind wants to wake up tomorrow, because mind wants to think again.

Writing down what you want to achieve in is a powerful tactic, it enables you to see what you can and cannot achieve. This is the secret of writing it down; it helps you eliminate the thoughts from the dream.

Define the true purpose why you want to achieve it

This is when a mission statement is conceived. A mission statement is a definition explaining the motive and purpose why you want to achieve a goal. To help you understand better, here is my mission statement for Ambassadors:

‘I wrote this book to give you insights about dreams which were achieved by great people – and to motivate you to achieve your own dreams in life.’

A mission statement is your dreams backbone. It will help you stay firm when pursuing the dream until it is realised. Nothing will stop you in achieving your dream when words are written down and you constantly refer back to them.

Write the vision down

The vision is the dream ready to become a reality. You write the vision down to affirm it to yourself that what I you have written down will come to pass as long as I keep pushing. My vision is to be the greatest motivational writer of my time and generation. Meaning I know that great writers have come and gone but in my time and generation I will stand out.

What is your vision and purpose? You have reached this far in life, now show your worth to mankind by fishing out your dream and make it real.

Move towards achieving your vision

I am achieving my vision through writing this book. I don’t know what you want to achieve but if you use the 10 steps I have given you, in time, you will realise your dream.

Chapter 5: Mentorship

What is a mentor?

Mentorship is an important requirement for all who wish to become winners. No person can win without a coach. Because a coach understands why you are pursuing your dream; they understand that giving you tactics will build you up and make you successful. At times a mentor would have developed new strategies and innovations that will help you surpass even their own achievements.

A mentor can be a person who has achieved your desired goal; they are winners in their respective fields, and a mentor is a person that wants to teach you how to win. A mentor does not become jealous of your victories, and does not laugh at your mistakes.

A mentor is a parent figure who wants to see their child succeed. My mentor in poetry told me one thing – a word he spoke to me which I will never forget. After he said this to me, I knew then, that he wanted me win. He said, “Clive, the difference between you and me is that I am afraid to show my work, where you are not,” and then came the punch line, he then said, “I guess this why you will succeed.”

He saw a vision of me surpassing him and going further… he could have backed off and let me fail if he wanted to, if he didn’t want me to succeed but as mentor, my mentor, he gave me his innovations for me to be where I am today.

A mentor can be your brother, mother, sister, father, teacher, preacher, pastor, business owner, or boss… the list of mentors can never end. A mentor is a person you know that knows you. A mentor is not a person you have heard about or just see without talking to them. You have to be able to speak to your mentor so as to build a relationship that will enable both of you to communicate effectively.

To see your vision become a success your life has to change. Practice, research, frustrating times, and obstacles will become a daily annoyance, but all will prove to be worth it when you become a mentor to someone one day. You in the end choose which way your life goes, but with a mentor by your side, at least a map will be given to you to use.

The road to success is a road filled with unimaginable ups and downs, “For a man knows no goal that has been met without a fight…” get a good coach, and give yourself all the expertise to win.

THE AMBASSARDORS IN THIS BOOK

Why These Ambassadors Matter

The ambassadors in this book are not just characters — they are catalysts for transformation. I wrote Ambassadors to spotlight the often-unseen heroes among us: mentors, coaches, caregivers, educators, and everyday people who spark growth in others simply by showing up with integrity, wisdom, and heart. These are the emotional architects of change. They remind us that every life we touch is a ripple we create.

This book isn’t just about honoring them — it’s about awakening you, the reader, to the ambassador you can become.

Each ambassador I’ve highlighted represents a facet of emotional intelligence: empathy, resilience, listening, and visionary leadership. They embody the courage it takes to guide others, often while still navigating their own journey. These are the people who move quietly but leave lasting imprints — not for applause, but for impact.

I believe we are all shaped by someone who believed in us before we believed in ourselves. Ambassadors is my love letter to those people. And it’s a call to action: to become more intentional, more generous, more awake to our role in someone else’s story.

If you’ve ever asked, What is my purpose? or How can I make a difference? — this book offers a profound starting point.

Let this be your sign to reach out to a mentor, thank a guide, or step into your own role as an ambassador.
You are part of this chain of change. Keep it going.

GREAT AMBASSADORS:

Poems

Nelson Mandela

A great man died too soon

Even though a long life was given him;

You gracefully used this life and you use it well.

Your death was too soon, South Africa

Still needed your warm embrace, and great love

For its people.

Warren Buffet

We know you as a billionaire…

You are business and business seems

To follow you; if success a person

Dreams of experiencing – there is no one

Better to follow and learn about than you.

Sir Winston Churchill

Great leader, great visionary,

Great teacher and achiever; Britain

Should thank you more often…

For Britain at a time when it needed

A great hero – Sir Winston Churchill,

You were that hero.

Mother Teresa

What is an angel… is it they which the Bible

They tell us about? Flying about and making

Wishes come true; majestic, and all wearing white!

Shining, and all sent by God. Have I left anything out?

Because was this not Mother Teresa… is this not her

Mother Teresa personified.

Oprah Winfrey

You have touched the world you

Beautiful woman; change many lives,

Given hope where hope would have

Never been if a mother you were not;

Some lives are for a purpose – and

Yours is seen, and continues to bless

The world tremendously.

“Success is just a word unless applied.”
