How to exchange boredom into productivity.

Covid-19 revealed a lot to me. I saw how focused I am as a person thanks to self development. I also saw how people’s emotions crumbled during the pandemic because they needed outside sources to feel whole and normal. Do you get bored at work or at home? I’ll share how I stay productive and what drives me.

Why a scene in the movie, Hollow Man, changed my behavior

Hollow Man, starring Kevin Bacon, has a scene of him sitting on a reclining chair. As he sits down after a long day of experimenting. Sebastian Caine looks up at the ceiling and reads a personalized note, saying, “You should be working.” As soon as he sees it, Sebastian gets up and goes back to develop a serum that allows the user to become invisible. In the end, Sebastian manages to develop the invisible serum, which leads to betrayal and a lot of action. What I took away from this clip is that the power of self motivation, even when you don’t feel like it, brings success.

That scene, mixed with my desire to manage my well-being, helped me understand the power of self motivation. You don’t need a lot to keep yourself active. Sebastian wanted to invent a serum that turns you invisible, and one simple note above his head kept him going. For me, my motivation is to learn how to love myself better, day by day.

When I’m home and I feel bored, there’s really no reason for me to feel bored. What can I do? What needs to be done? Can I write a message and publish it to help someone today? What task can I start, and what task can I complete? Health wise, I can watch one episode on television standing up. If I raise my legs and hands, up and down, for a full episode, will it help my heart? You have a lot of options at the tip of your hand. Feeling bored is all in the mind. I learn every day, and I’ve got a mental reminder in my head that reads, “You should be working.”

When I work, I use the same mental strength technique. Normally, I’m usually up to date with my tasks because of my mindset. If I have a moment to spare… it doesn’t take long for me to find something to do. I was 15 years old when Hollow Man came out, and by 15, I was already on my journey of self-discovery. Don’t see motivation as a big mountain to climb. I exercise at home, and I get the heart pumping by watching one full episode standing up, drinking water, and raising my hands up and down. It’s simple things that keep you going.

Conclusion

Do you get bored at work or at home? You can find reasons to be active. Ask yourself, “What needs to be done?” What task can I start, and what task can I complete? Because an eager mind rarely finds nothing to do.
