Did you know that challenging yourself every step of the way is a lifelong commitment?

Question. Why is freedom so hard to achieve? Whether it’s emotional freedom when you fight to overcome mental issues. Or monetary freedom not having to worry about core bills like paying your rent in time. Buying food without worry. Not having to think twice about paying your medical bills or school fees. Having freedom and not worrying about core needs in your life is very important for your well-being. But it requires getting yourself out of your comfort zone.

Why a lot of people fail to come out of their comfort zone?

Personally, procrastination mixed with my comfort zone nearly destroyed my dreams. But it was the fear of failure which drove my emotions to breaking point. My anxiety to not fail in life caused a lot of stress. I wanted freedom but I too was afraid to go out into the world and achieve it. There are a lot of factors which cause a lot of people to fail in life. And one of my biggest hurdles was my constant battle with anxiety.

I have passed through many stages in life. I’ve dealt with a number of things as an adolescent. Teenager. And a young man. What I learned is that I managed to overcome each stage because I fought hard to get out of my comfort zones. Did you know that your comfort zone changes as you grow up? Before you go to big school you find yourself as the older kid in preschool. Then big school drops you to the youngest student on campus. From high school to college. From college to a job. You’re always going through change. And if you cannot grow out of your comfort zone, every step of the way, you’ll find it hard to grow.

Why it’s important to free yourself from your comfort zone

Don’t be the person who doesn’t grow. Just like the people who were popular a few stages ago and they’re still trying to live in that light today. Growth requires a rebirth and retooling of your mind when you move up a stage. Not to say that the old you is bad but use the old you as a foundation and not the same formula all the time.

It’s good to grow. We all need it. Moving to the next stage with a foundation helps you manage whatever comes your way. So how do you free yourself from the things which give you sleepless nights? How do you get your freedom in life? For me, I challenged myself to overcome my anxiety which was holding me back. And because I was scared all the time I was afraid to move on to the next level mentally. I was on stage 3 but my confidence levels were still hovering on level 1. Which made me stand out around my peers in a negative way.

When you lack self-confidence you keep to yourself and you avoid everything. But like I said, the fear of failure caused a lot of stress in my life. But deep down I knew I had to fight off my crippling anxiety which drove me to seek help. In order to achieve my goals I had to grow and catch up to the stage I had to be in at the time. I had to learn fast and develop fast to be in the right stage and surpass it in order to succeed.

All stages are important. Their foundations are all important so don’t skip them. Grow and learn from them. For me to get what I want in life I have to learn and grow all the time. What I lack due to missing out in previous stages because of anxiety I have to work hard to gain it while still having to do what’s required today.

The hard work is worth it. I am capable now of maintaining my core bills because I fought hard to get to this stage of happiness. The journey doesn’t end. There are better stages ahead and I’m preparing for them with the foundations I’ve accumulated in my pursuit of happiness. The beginning stages in my life may have been tough but the resistance levels as seen in the below diagram are percentages I can now handle. No matter how high the resistance percentages may get, I have a strong foundation to beat them.

Conclusion

Working on yourself is a commitment. Do it because your life is worth living happily and planned. Know your goals and get all the help you need to make sure you achieve them.
