Just because they see you moving around, and time keeping, doesn’t mean you’re well

  • In this message you’ll get to understand the benefits of connecting with people

When you make an effort to check up on someone. Don’t presume that someone is distant due to misguided thoughts you may have towards them. Don’t see people laughing. Maintaining routines, and presume that they’re okay. Check on people. Make an effort to really check on them, because a lot of people bottle up things until an emotional meltdown occurs.

Why it’s important to check on people

Have you lost contact with someone in your life? It doesn’t have to be years, weeks, or a few months can pass by and you haven’t reached out to them. A small gesture of saying hello, helps. Asking how they’re doing helps. You may not know their challenges but showing interest encourages compassion.

Because as we try to achieve our goals, life in-between, happens. The world doesn’t stop and it too has demands which can overwhelm us. As we pursue our goals we have to live. Living requires money, hard work, external demands, and mental strength. If you lack guidance you will find it hard to focus on your goals as you maneuver through life’s obstacles.

This is when you see people distancing themselves. You wonder if you did something to push them away. You wonder if their life is going great, and that’s why they don’t need you around them anymore. You play a lot of scenarios in your mind, but what if they’re all wrong? What if the other person is overwhelmed and needs encouragement and support?

Ways in which society helps people deal with personal issues

Why being able to function around people doesn’t mean you’re okay. Don’t see people keeping time at work, maintaining routines, and conclude that everything is okay. Do you know that a lot of people go through difficult challenges and pretend to be okay? Without help thousands are disadvantaged and fail to overcome difficult issues. Some of which can be resolved if help was offered to them.

Because we fear being discriminated against. People tend to shut down and bare their issues alone. That’s why a lot of companies have adopted health and awareness campaigns which encourage their staff to sit down with psychologists who conduct one on one sessions with people. Such initiatives help thousands of people deal with personal issues.

Why talking to a psychologist helps

  • Here’s the difference between what a Psychologist, and what a Psychiatrist does:

“Psychiatrists are medical doctors, whereas psychologists are not. Psychiatrists prescribe medication, but psychologists cannot. Psychiatrists diagnose illness, manage treatment and provide a range of therapies for complex and serious mental illness. Psychologists focus on providing psychotherapy (talk therapy) to help patients.” Source: yourhealthinmind.org

Do yourself a great service and speak to a psychologist

Why? Because it’s hard to talk to people who expect you to be okay, no matter what. For example, family members, friends, or close colleagues. So talking to a psychologist helps because we tend to bottle up things, compounding them until we explode.

We all have bad days, but some of us cannot seem to get over them. When they remain in our lives longer than expected. Developing your emotional intelligence helps you separate the anxiety, which is a byproduct of stress, and only focus on fixing your problems. Because trying to fix your issues, intertwined with anxiety, can lead to a meltdown.

See issues for what they are. Challenges which need solutions to overcome them. But if you view them as issues which are unconquerable. Your challenges will crush you. Did you know that you can be happy while dealing with challenges? Maintaining a positive attitude during tough times keeps your momentum consistent.

Conclusion

  • Why being able to function around people doesn’t mean you’re okay

Helping others is good. Reaching out to find out how they’re doing can help them. You shouldn’t be a stranger. Keep the vein open because in times of need a person who checks up on you is priceless.
