What came first? The egg or the chicken? God or evolution?
This post came about because of a message my sister sent on the family WhatsApp group. A Bible verse “Proverbs 12:25 NKJV [25] Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.” Therefore, knowing this should ideally make your depression go away. Right? If you suffer from anxiety, understanding that if you calm yourself down, whatever is pushing against your heart is not physical but it’s emotional.
Emotions unlike physical objects can be managed internally. For example, if I’m broke and I reach into my wallet for cash… physically I won’t find money. But if I am worried about it and it causes anxiety, that’s emotions pushing against my heart. You can manage your emotions. Yes! You’re broke but why add depression on top of your empty pockets? Rather do something physical about it. Generate money… or find a way to address your financial situation.
Explore new job opportunities, pursue a side hustle, or perhaps develop a budget to manage your expenses better. The key is to take action rather than allowing your worries to consume you.
Remember, the mind often amplifies our problems, twisting them into larger than life obstacles. When faced with anxiety, try to break down the issue into manageable parts. Instead of focusing on your financial standing as a whole, think of it in smaller steps. What can you do today to improve your situation? This could be as simple as updating your resume, networking with friends, or learning a new skill that could bolster your employability.
The process of calming your mind is crucial. Practices such as meditation, mindfulness, or simply taking a few moments to breathe deeply can help to refocus your thoughts. A clear mind can help you find solutions and foster a more positive outlook.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to someone if the burden feels too heavy. Sometimes, sharing your worries with a friend or family member can provide not just relief, but also additional perspectives and options you may not have considered.
Conclusion
While external factors may indeed pose challenges, your greatest strengths lie within you. Cultivating a proactive mindset can greatly influence your journey. Rather than asking, “What came first? The chicken or the egg?” focus on what you can hatch from your current situation. You are capable of creating change… So take that first step, and soon enough, you’ll realize that anxiety doesn’t have to define your day-to-day life.
