A conversation I had with my Uber driver
So, whenever I use Uber, for some reason, drivers share personal stories with me. I guess driving around the whole day with a car full of people still leaves you feeling lonely. For some reason, 7 out of 10 rides I request a driver will look at me, and ask me a question that’s on their mind. I kid you not… I’ll get into a car, and I like sitting in the front seat because I don’t like the chauffeur experience. We greet each other cordially, but when I’m in my feelings, I turn my head towards my passenger door window and look away. A sign that I’ll be quiet until I reach my destination. I kid you not… I’ll then hear words like: “My brother, why are women like this?” And then the conversation takes its maiden flight.
Why sex is not intimacy and a love drive in a relationship for men
Men, too, have feelings besides the one we feel in between our legs. For guys, after the pleasure that brings two people together, the main drive for love and growth in a relationship is home building. Personally, after getting to the age of 40, I’ve lived enough to understand what fun is and what love is.
When my Uber driver asked me, “My brother, why are women like this?” I knew where this conversation was heading. I flipped my head over, looked into his eyes, and I saw through him. The guy looked frustrated, tired, and worn out not from driving but from thinking about a woman who isn’t showing the love languages we as guys favor in a relationship. A woman who wants to build and not play around.
Guys play because women play. Guys, get a bad report, but for me, personally, and my Uber driver, if two people from two different backgrounds experience similar, if not near perfect behaviors from women, it shows our frustration with women who aren’t serious.
Why sex is not intimacy and a love drive for men
Guys want peace, growth, and family. Peace to build a home for his family. We call this grinding in my parts. Growth between the man and his wife because men love too. Family is the structure where he resides, his community the both of you build together. Cousins, family support, and friendships you both bring into the relationship. But for some reason, like my Uber driver’s frustration, once the sex is over, the conversation doesn’t really and honestly go down this road.
It’s always about what you can give me for giving you this good – good pie I just gave you? But to be honest, you brought the pie, and I brought the utensils, chair, table, and manpower that goes with eating your pie. It’s never one-sided.
The conversations always end because the trip reaches its destination
I’m not a shrink, but I try to build and not tear down people. My take on this conversation is that my Uber driver knew what was going on. Where his relationship was possibly heading, and he was frustrated because he says he tried to talk about home building plans with his woman but she’s still in the what you can give me for giving you this good – good pie I just gave you? She doesn’t want to talk about longevity. It’s the now for her, and that’s why the guy will play in the relationship and move on. Then words like men are trash grow when it’s the opposite.
Conclusion
Why sex is not intimacy and a love drive for men. My conversation with my Uber driver is not unique, but it shows that men have feelings too. This article was inspired by a much deeper conversation. Years ago, I started writing about questions many men never ask out loud. Those reflections eventually became a practical guide about desire, pressure, intimacy, performance, communication, and connection.

I wrote this because too many men are carrying questions they never ask out loud.
