Understanding Emotional Intelligence in Real Life

This post explores an emotional intelligence concept and how it shows up in real life. In work, relationships, social situations, wellbeing, and personal growth. Emotional intelligence helps people understand what they feel, manage reactions, build healthier connections, and move through life with more awareness and balance.

Don’t leap without looking

We all want to be the person who people read about. The person people use as their role model. The person who succeeded where many failed. You want to be their litmus test. The person people use to encourage others by saying do it like that person and you will succeed.

  • Though why should it be you who succeeds where many have failed?

Do you have what it takes to succeed? Do you know what it takes to succeed? Are you prepared to go through the tests, the hard work, long days, and journey needed to succeed? Success doesn’t happen overnight. You have to work hard to achieve it. No matter what you want in life it takes hard work and determination to succeed.

Every dream. Every goal requires a willing person to achieve it. If you fail to trust yourself there’s no point in trying. You will not stay the journey if you don’t trust your capabilities and heart. Your vision and goal needs you to be 100% in it. Because the world will chip away at your goal one piece at a time and if you’re not strong it will finish you off before you achieve success.

How to trust your instinct

Your goal is a body. It has life and it needs to be fed. If you don’t feed it, and encourage it to grow, it will starve. And once it starves it is vulnerable to outside influences because a weak vision can be destroyed. Chasing your goals takes time. It takes a lot of effort to get to the finish line. Throughout your journey you will need to plan ahead. Leap over difficult circumstances and hold on tight to your vision when your dream is tested.

The world plays its part to test you. People will test your heart and strength. The world will try to destroy something good. If you have a weak heart your goal will be destroyed. Trust your instinct because it gave you your dream. Trust in your vision because you didn’t come up with it if you didn’t see the benefit of achieving it in your life.

Why it’s important to trust your instincts

So true… listen to your instincts.

There are good people in the world who will help you achieve your goals. But they can only do so much in your life. If sometimes these people are tired. They will not come and help you. If sometimes these people have to help other people, when you need them the most. They will go because just like you thousands of people need help too. If sometimes you need money to complete a task. Some of these people are willing but just like you they may not have the funds to contribute.

So don’t blame them when they cannot assist you when you need them. These people have lives and they have their own things they have to do. So appreciate them but know ultimately that it is you and you alone who will be on the road to success every day by yourself. You will meet these people along the way, they will help you along the way, but they will come and go. You cannot expect them to be there 24/7 it’s only you who will be there 24/7 so trusting your instincts and working hard to achieve your goals is important.

Don’t leap without looking. It’s not a good strategy. Having a goal and planning your steps regardless if they happen as per the plan is ten times better than winging it. Leaping into darkness only compromises your progress. You cannot jump off a mountain and expect to survive if you don’t put on a parachute and train how to skydive. There are processes you need to master before you jump off a mountain and expect to live.

Everything needs a plan. Leaping without a plan will make you a litmus test on how not to jump off a mountain if you’re not prepared. Be smart about thing’s. Trust your instinct and it will guide you.

How to listen to your instinct

Your dream speaks to you. When you see someone succeeding and it motivates you. That’s your instinct feeding off of it. Loving someone’s passion and seeing how they succeeded, saving the video clip to watch later and reflect on. That’s your instinct motivating you. Reading books, learning from others, buying things you need to have in order to chase your vision. That’s your instinct at work.

Limiting yourself. Not doing things which compromise your vision. That’s you feeding your vision and showing the world how determined you are to succeed. That’s how you patch up the pieces of your vision the world has chipped away in your life. Trusting your instinct is not hard. You have to be disciplined and you will do what’s required to succeed. Success doesn’t happen overnight, you don’t reap good things without hard work and perseverance.

Conclusion

Trust your instinct. Believe in yourself when the world tries to defeat you. The world is there to slow you down, but don’t stop. Your goals may take time to materialize, sometimes longer than others, who achieve theirs quickly. And that’s okay. Run your race and do what’s required of you and you will succeed
