I think the book of Daniel Goleman is a must for everyone who wants to know more about emotional intelligence. On the page 43 the autor writes: “All emotions are, in essence, impulses that make us act, quick plans to save or sustain life that evolution has equipped us with.” (the translation from Polish)
Emotions have important functions in our lives, but an inappropriate response to them can be fatal to us. It is up to us to be in control. We are to recognise our emotions and respond to them appropriately so that we do not do something we will regret. Daniel Goleman also writes on page 43: “Only in ‘civilised’ adults can you see this great anomaly in the animal kingdom – emotions being the first stimuli for action, disconnected from the actual reaction”. (the translation from Polish)
The author of “Emotional Intelligence” also writes that we humans have “two minds”. – one thinking and the other feeling. But about that another time.
Dare to live. It’s YOUR life.
