Understanding Emotional Intelligence in Real Life

This post explores an emotional intelligence concept and how it shows up in real life. In work, relationships, social situations, wellbeing, and personal growth. Emotional intelligence helps people understand what they feel, manage reactions, build healthier connections, and move through life with more awareness and balance.

(Alcune riflessioni sulla motivazione.)

(This post is in English and Italian)

At the beginning of this post, I will share a thought by Charles Duhigg from his book ‘Smarter, Faster, Better’.

He writes, “If enthusiasm is to be aroused in people, they must first of all be given a sense of self-reliance and freedom.” (the translation is from Slovak version of the mentioned book)

If we are motivated to do something, we feel like it. An example of this is motivation for professional work. If, for example, a freelancer sees that his or her freedom in work and commitment results in a greater sense of purpose and more income, he or she is increasingly motivated. The same is true for people who write books and successfully sell them in the traditional system or in so-called self-publishing.

And a few more sentences on motivation – these come from wikipedia.

Motivation is the reason for which humans and other animals initiate, continue, or terminate a behavior at a given time. Motivational states are commonly understood as forces acting within the agent that create a disposition to engage in goal-directed behavior. It is often held that different mental states compete with each other and that only the strongest state determines behavior.”

Motivation – in my opinion – is something that ‘pushes’ me forward, something that encourages me to work hard, it’s a willingness to act, because I know that, when properly guided by my own actions, success awaits me after the work is done.
